Most couples prefer cash for down payments over traditional wedding gifts: survey

A survey found 79% of those planning weddings would consider asking for money toward a home down payment instead of traditional gifts, with 82% willing to scale back or skip weddings to save for a home. Rising living costs are causing many to prioritize homeownership over lavish celebrations, especially in expensive regions like B.C. and Ontario. About 57% of married respondents wished they had requested down payment funds.
